Nubbin Hill bridge being closed Monday

PRESCOTT – As of noon Monday, July 1, the bridge over Cold Water Creek on Nubbin Hill Road will be closed.

Nevada County Judge Mark Glass, Saturday, said the bridge failed to pass inspection. He was initially asked to close the bridge Friday, but convinced the inspectors to let it stay open until noon Monday.

Those needing to get back and forth from Nubbin Hill Road will either have to go to the Five Way Marker or down Suckle’s Lake Road. Glass will be getting in touch with an engineer to repair the bridge, but said the bridge could be closed for up to a month. The Nevada County Quorum Court will be discussing the issue at its July meeting on July 9. glass said the engineer could be here July 12 or 13 if the court approves funding to pay for repairs, which would have to come out of the Road and Bridge Department’s budget or from one of the county’s certificate’s of deposit.
