Pico hosting art workshops
HOPE – Two art workshops presented by the Southwest Arkansas Arts Council for students and adults.
Sue Allen Pico of Benton, billed as the Arts Lady of Arkansas, will present two, three-hour sessions for students, 9 a.m.-noon Monday and Tuesday, July 29-30. “Activities – including paper kaleidoscopes, boxes constructed from Christmas cards, decotropes (optical illusion toys) will tailor individual art projects to age-specific children, booklets created from a single sheet of papers.
The second day students will work on making games, masks, bracelets or key chairs as well as other items.
There is no charge but for any parent attending/helping children, there will be a $10 fee. The class is limited to 20 children (first grade through high school).
Pico will also present two classes to adults the same days – 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. The first night the workshop will focus on creating colored Ukrainian eggs. Attendees will learn the technique of preparing the raw egg for the process and how to apply designs of one color.
If time allows, students (who should bring six raw eggs to the Monday session) will be show how to apply multiple colors on the eggs. Cost is $10 per person, with a limit of 20 students.
The Tuesday session will be “a fun-filled three hours,” Pico said. “Attendees will learn fun activities to do with children and it’s open to parents, grandparents, teachers and any other interested person,’ she said.
Titled “Easy Projects You can Make with Your Kids,” the session will teach how to work with children to make home crafts that “will delight kids of all ages,” she said.
