Candy store at Depot Museum
PRESCOTT – Since the first of the month, the Depot Museum has turned into an old-fashioned candy store.
Curator Judy Duke decided to have a penny candy store at the museum throughout the month as a way to remind people of how things used to be. The “store” has been a success as more than 50 people have visited the museum to date this month.
Children (of all ages) have had the opportunity to buy train shaped suckers, stick candy, cotton candy (which has sold out), tootsie pops, tootsie roll candies, saltwater taffy, red and black licorice, root beer and horehound candy, gumballs, caramel candy and Hershey kisses.
The museum is also having a coloring contest in conjunction with the store. Duke said several children have entered. The winners will be announced in Aug.
“It’s going good,” she said of the store. “The kids have enjoyed it and it’s been fun.”
