Johnson charged with seven counts of sexual assault

PRESCOTT – Sherman Johnson, 25, of Prescott, has been charged with seven counts of sexual assault in the first degree.

The charges stem from Johnson reportedly having sexual intercourse with a minor student at Prescott High School while he was an employee of the district. Sexual assault in the first degree is a Class A felony carrying a sentence of 6-30 years in prison and/or a fine up to $15,000.

The charges were filed on June 18, with the allegations of the incident occurring between Oct. 1 and Dec. 12, 2018. Sexual assault in the first degree is defined as having sexual intercourse or deviant sexual activity with a minor who wasn’t the suspect’s spouse and the defendant was an employee of the minor’s school district at the time.

Johnson was released on a $5,000 bond.
