Trio arrested by HPD

HOPE – On July 17, at approximately 10:00am, officers arrested Carlos Matamoros, 19, of Hope, and charged him with possession of firearms by certain person, simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, theft of property, possession of a controlled substance- methamphetamine, and possession of controlled substance near certain facilities. The arrest occurred in the 1100 block of West 7th Street, in Hope, Arkansas.  Matamoros was held for a first appearance at the Hempstead County Detention Facility.

On July 17, at approximately 8:18pm, officers arrested Benjamin Newton JR, 26, of Hope and charged him with battery 2nd degree (x2), fleeing on foot, resisting arrest, failure to appear, and a foreign warrant.  The arrest occurred in the 300 block of North Washington Street in Hope. Newton was transported to the Hempstead County Detention Facility where he was held for a 1st appearance.

On July 20, At approximately 9:44pm  officer arrested Brandon Davis. 29, of Vilonia, AR

And charged him with domestic battery 2nd degree and endangering the welfare of a minor 1st degree.  The arrest occurred in the 2400 block of North Hervey Street.  Davis was transported  to the Hempstead County Detention Facility where he was held for a first appearance.
