Bannister benefit raises $4,500

BLEVINS – The benefit dinner for David Banister was held this Saturday afternoon at Blevins School Cafeteria. This fundraiser was held to cover medical expenses as Mr. Banister battles with an aggressive skin cancer.

Bannister has been a pillar of the Blevins community for years, and is widely loved, as proven by the remarkable turnout this afternoon. Almost 200 people showed up to support Banister, to eat a tasty chicken (or hotdog) dinner, and to participate in the silent auction. The auction boasted 100 individual donations – including 25 cakes – and proved very successful. There were also raffle tickets available for purchase at $5 each, the prize being a Yeti Roadie 20 Cooler. Many smiles were present and many hugs given in the cafeteria as the community came together to support a good man.

When all was said and done, the benefit raised over $4,500 dollars for Bannister, not including the money raised by the raffle, which is still ongoing.

The drawing for the Yeti cooler will be on October 5. If you would like to purchase a raffle ticket, you can by contacting a member of the Banister or Choate family. If you would like to make a donation, there is an account for David Banister at Farmers Bank in Blevins. For additional information, contact Tim Choate at (870) 703-5742.

David Banister, his family and friends expressed their immense gratitude to all who attended and contributed.
