All the same in God’s Eyes
“ God doesn’t speak English or Spanish. He speaks love. We want to get the word of God out, white, black, hispanic- we all need to come together to have peace and harmony. If we could do so this community would be different.”
Independence Day 2014 marked the first day of broadcast for the local Christian radio station Radio manantial 94.7 fm located in Hope. The station is out of a local predominantly spanish worship center but the administrators of the site, Franciso Salazar and Anthony Calderon want to spread the word that the station is for all cultures and races.
They have some English programs as well.
“It’s been a vision I’ve had for many, many years, Salazar said, “we invite all people to listen. We want to express to everyone that we are all the same in God’s eyes.” The two men of faith and radio evangelists both said that in wholehearted agreement.
They said they have been able to broadcast for five years. “This is a tool for the whole community to use, “ the men again agreed.
They broadcast in sync with a worldwide Christian network. Salazar said his grandson who serves in the Marines in South Korea tunes into the show and listens.
When asked do they feel like the station has been successful in helping people find their faith, they say” most definitely.”
They take prayer request,birthday , engagement and wedding and community event announcements. The station is supported through donations and other means, Calderon gives a gospel program in English every Thursday 7 am to 9 am.
Salazar and Calderon say they invite any one that feels led to come do a Christian program in English to please come and do so. They also feature some children’s programs.
“ We would like to bring in someone to broadcast in all English, any pastor that wants to.”
