Mr. William Mullins, age 78 of Prescott, Arkansas passed away
September 30, 2019 at Little Rock, AR. Born July 15, 1941 to Otha and
Alta Dorman Mullins in Bodcaw, AR. He grew up and graduated from Bodcaw
High School.
William was brought to church from birth. His mother
made sure that her children were in church every Sunday. She and her
three sisters sang in the church and were known as the Singing Dorman
Sisters.
William was saved when he was 15 years old. He was baptized
in the pond on his uncle’s farm. Pastor Bobby Joe Wright baptized him.
He joined Bodcaw #1 Baptist Church.
William has always loved the Lord and his church. He enjoyed
working at the church and helping wherever he could. He loves First
Baptist Church of Prescott and his church family.
He was also very civic minded. He is past President of Kiwanis
Club, Past President of The Chamber of Commerce, Deann Cemetery Board
and Past President and instrumental in forming The Nevada County Fire
and Rescue Unit. He was a volunteer trainer for the Prescott Curley
Wolves for 25 years. He was chosen Citizen of the year 2000.
William
retired from the US Army and the Arkansas National Guard after serving
27 years. He served the community as Nevada County Sheriff’s Deputy for
several years. William retired from the Bank of Prescott in 2006 after
26 years of employment. He served as Nevada County Corner and worked as a
funeral director for Brazzel-Cornish Funeral Home. His compassion for
people and his desire to help people gave him the opportunity to witness
whenever he got the chance.
He was preceded in death by his parents,
one sister, Vernice Arterberry, two brothers, Quinton Mullins and
Terrell Mullins and his previous wife Virginia Moore Mullins, mother of
daughters, Wendie Reaves and Michele Cullums.
William is survived by his wife of 29 years, Helen Birdsong
Mullins; four daughters Wendie (Wade) Reaves of Bryant; Michele (Scott)
Cullums of Enumclaw, WA; Terri (Tim) Ashbrook of Texarkana, TX; Sherri
(Rolando) Cuzco of Ft. Smith. Eight grandchildren; Cary Ashbrook, Kelli
Ashbrook-Cummings, Laura Tidwell, Trey Overton, Regan Reaves, Ashley
Reaves, Matthew Cullum and Andrew Cuzco. Eight great grandchildren;
Ashbrook, Kailey, Alexandria, Anthony, Clinton, Dean, Beau and Charlee.
One sister Mary Hinton Roberson.
William truly enjoyed life,
especially going to the grand’s activities. He loved going on road trips
and going to the lake. He took pride on mowing the yard. He was truly
loved by all his family and he will be greatly missed.
Visitation for
Mr. Mullins will be 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Thursday, October 3, 2019 at
BRAZZEL/Cornish Funeral Home 1196 Hwy. 371 W. Prescott, AR.
Funeral
service will be 2:00pm on Friday, October 4, 2019 at BRAZZEL/Cornish
Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Tom Mitchell, Bro. Frank Henson and Bro.
David Bowen officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in
Prescott with Military Honors.
