From the Hempstead County Farm Bureau Women’s Committee
Our Hempstead County AG woman for the month of October is Emma Burke.
Emma was born in Hempstead county. And although she was not raised on a farm, she has always had a passion for animals and Agriculture.
Emma and her husband Derek will have been married seven wonderful years at the start of next month. Together they have three beautiful children: Hallie (5), Jed (3), and Jolene (7) months.
Emma married into a farming family, and along the way she has learned so much and has loved every minute of it!
Emma graduated from HSU in 2012 with a bachelor degree in Early Childhood Education. She taught 2nd grade at Blevins for two years before moving to the K-12 Librarian position. Emma earned her Masters degree in Library Science through UCA in 2016.
Currently Emma is the K-12 Librarian and Assistant Principal at Blevins. She enjoys being able to bring AG related books to the classrooms to help the kids understand where their food comes from.
On their family farm, CK Farms, they have a 4 house broiler operation with Tyson, cattle operation, and a poultry litter windrowing operation.
Their children love calling the cows up, welcoming new baby chicks to the farm, and all things farming.
It warms her heart to watch them grow and flourish on the family farm.
Although she has a full time job, She loves to help around the farm when she can, and also enjoys raising their children on the farm.
Emma and her husband are members of the Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers Committee and enjoy attending the conference every year to meet with other young farmers across the great state of Arkansas.
