Hempstead County Farm Bureau Annual Meeting
The Hempstead County Farm Bureau Bureau held it’s annual meeting Tuesday October 15th. The Hempstead County Farm Bureau has been in existence 82 years and one of the first chartered in the state. Farm Bureau Insurance Manager Reed Camp said agriculture generates $192 million dollars in Hempstead County annually. Camp also noted Hempstead County is # 6 in cattle production, #9 on swine production, #5 on broilers, #2 in pullets,and #5 on layers. In addition to Camp, those attending heard from State Representative Danny Watson and Doreen Antley of the Hempstead County Women’s Committee. The Hempstead County Farm Family of the Year, Donald and B.J. Hampton, were recognized. Several people were nominated and approved for board positions for 2020. They included Denver Ward, Lynn Montgomery, Steve Lively, Ned Ray Purtle, Glen Ford,and Ernest Brown. The meeting adjourned after State Representative Watson helped distribute door prizes.
