HOPE – Students participating in school sponsored blood drives may qualify for a college scholarship up to $750 beginning Nov. 6.

The Hope High School Student Council will sponsor a LifeShare Blood Center blood drive on the HHS campus from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 6 in the HHS Auxiliary Gymnasium. Registration must be completed prior to Nov. 1 to participate, according to Student Council sponsor Sheila Hopson.

Students must be 16 years of age or older to donate, Hopson said.

“Students can be considered for a scholarship if they give blood a minimum number of times, or give six red blood cell units, or serve on the school’s blood donor program committee for at least two years,” she said.

Qualifying students must be in good academic standing with a 2.7 minimum cumulative grade point average. A student must also plan to enroll in a college or university no later than the fall semester after graduation in order to qualify.

Hopson said once the campus reaches its blood donor goal, LifeShare will award either a $500 or $750 scholarship.

Contact Hopson for registration information at 870-777-3541, ext. 656, during school hours.
