Flywheel Pies hosts coffee

PRESCOTT – Flywheel Pies hosted Thursday’s community coffee.

The old McRae Middle School teacher’s conference room got crowded in a hurry with visitors. This year’s coffee featured a selection of fried pies, including chocolate, peach, apple, sugar free apple and cheesecake. The cheesecake pies went fast.

Steven Hitt, the manager of Flywheel, welcomed everyone, letting them know Flywheel Pies has been in operation for 35 years. It was pointed out the business has two new pies, cheesecake and buttermilk.

Flywheel Pies employees work four 10-hour days, turning out 3,500 pies per week. The company offers 14 varieties of fried pies that can be purchased wholesale.

The flavors available are: apple, cherry, coconut, peach, apricot, blackberry, raisin cheesecake, blueberry, chocolate, lemon, strawberry and buttermilk. Apple and peach are also offered in a sugar-free variety, and the seasonal pies are pumpkin and pecan.
