Halloween at White Oak successful once again

By submitted, 10/29/19 9:55 AM

On October 26th, White Oak Lake State Park hosted its 12th Annual Halloween in the Park event.

This year, more than 3,000 people brought their families out to enjoy the festivities that included trick-or-treating through the campground, a haunted trail hike, and food truck vendors. “Every year, campers fill our campground several days in advance of the event and put in many hours of labor to decorate their campsites. Handmade skeletons, miniature haunted houses, inflatable figurines, and much more adorn our park” says Assistant Superintendent Corbin Merriott. “These folks look forward to this event every year. The look on the kids faces and the joy that the guests get when they come to the event keeps our campers and staff excited about the coming year. It’s a safe place for parents to bring their children and participate in the age-old tradition of “trick-or-treating” and we look forward to providing this event for years to come. We would like to thank the Nevada County Sherriff Department, Ouachita County Sheriff Department, Nevada County EMS, Nevada County Schools FBLA club, numerous local businesses and volunteers, and our devoted campers who without their support, we could not make this event possible.
