Veterans Day Program at Hempstead Hall

The annual Veterans Day program at Hempstead Hall was held Monday.  It was spearheaded by Bob Willis and the Hooe Kiwanis Club.  It was also a joint meeting of the Hope Lions, Rotary, Civitan and Evening Lions.   Kenny Martin of the First Assembly of God Church opened the program with prayer.  The colors were presented by members of the Hope High ROTC.  Arnetta Bradford brought the National Anthem.  Willis recognized several families who have lost loved ones in battle.  Also, a video produced by the HAPS EAST students was shown.  Huck Plyler who has sent over 200 “Care”. packages to active duty veterans also spoke and talked about his efforts to collect items this week at.Martin’s. World War II Veteran Bill Goldman was recognized.

   The keynote speaker was Eric Akin of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes of Texarkana.    At the close of the program Bob Willis reminded everyone the Veterans Day Parade had been moved to Thursday at 4pm.
