Lions auction off to good start Thursday night

PRESCOTT – A small crowd at the opening night of the Lions Club’s annual auction meant nothing as bidding fever took over at times, driving prices beyond the face value of the items.

Around three dozen people attended the first night of the auction to bid on items such as: hams, LED lanterns and flashlights, gift baskets, bluetooth snowmen speakers, necklaces, gift certificates, paintings, blankets, a refurbished chainsaw and smoker built by UACCH.

The concession stand was kept busy selling soft drinks, hot dogs, hamburgers, chips, and, possibly most importantly on a cold evening, coffee.

Still, nothing else mattered when the bidding began as bidders were willing to pay what it took to get what they wanted.

The auction continues Saturday night at the Potlatch Building, when the silent auction item winners will be announced. The auction will begin at 6 p.m.
