Lions Auction

The 70th annual Hope Lions Club Christmas Auction is set for December 5th, 6th, and 7th in Hope’s Fair Park Coliseum.  The annual event has been held since 1950 and raises money for Christmas baskets for needy Hempstead County residents.   The auction will feature a concession stand with homemade food prepared and served by the Hope Evening Lions.  The Evening Lions are famous for their homemade chicken and dumplings as well as their homemade desserts.  A big variety of sandwiches, soups, and desserts will be for sale each evening.  All the money raised by the Evening Lions goes to their community projects.    There will be preliminary entertainment each evening prior to the auction starting around 5:30pm.  Thursday night will feature Shelley Keith.  Friday night will feature “Measure of Grace”.  A Saturday act will be announced soon.    The auction will be heard live on both KXAR-AM/1490 and KHOA-LP 107.9FM.  Once again SWARKToday.comwill stream audio and video of the auction and the video feed will also be available on their Facebook page.  Bidders who cannot attend can follow the auction on radio and online and phone their bids in at 777-5229.    Hundreds of local businesses will donate items for the auction.  If you have a business and have not been contacted, you may contact any Lion to donate.
