Rowdy Riders receive honors

HOPE – On Sunday, December 15, 47 of the more than 50 members of the Hempstead County Rowdy Young Riders 4-H Horse club gathered at the Rafter J Cowboy Church to receive more than $20,000 dollars in awards for their participation in the monthly play days held from March through October. The play days were held On Friday nights at the Rafter J Cowboy Church Arena on Highway 29 South.

4-Hr’s in age groups from 2 to 19 participated in events such as Barrel Racing, Pole Bending, Flags, and Goat Tying. The top five in each age division were eligible to receive awards which included belt buckles, horse blankets, breast collars, head stall, all members of the club received a 50 pound bag of horse feed, T-Shirts and jackets and a bucket full of horse care products. Custom made saddles were awarded to each age division high point constant.  

ThelLeaders of the club are Lacey Jo Singleton, Chris and Jennifer Ghormley, Tracy and Vince Grimes, Rusty and Shar Burke, Lonnie and Lawanda Friend, Jamie and Belinda Formby, and James and Nancy Singleton.

The Rowdy Young Riders thank Diamond Bank, Hope Livestock, Hempstead County Farmers Association, Rafter J Cowboy Church, and the Hempstead County Sheriff’s Office.
