Georgia Hale

Georgia Hale was born on January 18, 1924 in Prescott, Arkansas to George and Beulah Hale. Raised on a beautiful farm with her four sisters: Airsteen, Rebecca, Orabell, and Sally; and two brothers, George and Joseph. Georgia had an undeniable passion for fishing and cooking, which followed her throughout her life.

Georgia moved to Chicago in 1944, where she would begin her new journey beyond her Arkansas roots. Amaster with a sewing needle Georgia would become a successful seamstress creating countless beautiful garments. Georgia had 7 beautiful children that she loved and cherished and a wonderful husband David Stephens.

Georgia joined New Progressive Missionary BaptistChurch, under the leadership of her late bother- in- lawRev. Dr. Elzie Young and currently pastored by Rev. Herbert Lee Jr. Georgia served faithfully in the culinary ministry, mission department, choir and was known as the church seamstress. She loved going to the fam to pick fresh fruits where she would make her famous preserves. She also spent many hours making quilts for family & friends.

She is preceded in death by, her husband David Stephens, and three children: Gwendolyn, David Jr, and Ardella and her three sisters: Rebecca, Sally, and Aristeen and one brother, George.

Georgia will indeed be missed by her family and all that loved her.

She leaves to cherish her memory, four children Juanita (Herman), Sheilah Sims (Fred), Wanda Chic (Cornell),Marvin (Lauren), and one daughter- in- law Naomi. One sister, Orabell Wiley, one brother Joseph Hale (Doris). 21 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, 11 great- great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.

There will be a Home Going Celebration for Georgia at 11:00am, on Saturday, January 4, 2019, at Macedonia Baptist Church in Prescott. Her earthly body will be laid to rest at Washington Hill cemetery.
