Blevins School Board

The Blevins School Board met Monday night at 6:30 pm in the Administration Building. The meeting started with prayer, the pledge, and the approval of the last meeting’s minutes.

It was a brief meeting, but there were a few matters of note.

Superintendent Dixon was pleased to report the continuing success of the district’s efforts to increase attendance. In order to improve upon last year’s less-than-satisfactory assessment, the elementary school has employed multiple incentives in order to encourage attendance. These efforts have seen good results, with a marked decline in elementary absenteeism since November. In light of this success, the high school is also looking at ways of implementing similar strategies. It is expected that improved attendance will also improve the district’s academic progress. As Dixon pointed out, the students need to be present in order to learn.

Other matters discussed include the approval of the Facilities Master Plan – designed to ensure the district’s facilities are maintained and insured – and the renewal of Superintendent Dixon’s contract for 3 more years.
