LITTLE ROCK – Recently the community of Oak Grove was awarded a $75,000 grant for the renovation of the old elementary school building into a community center.

The grant required a 10 percent match from the community. Justice of the Peace Herbert Coleman, who represents Oak Grove, said the Oak Grove Community Outreach Center applied for the grant through the Rural Development Block Grant program. The center is a 501c3 organization.

Renovations will start in either mid February or early March, depending on the weather. The money will primarily be used for a heat and air system, new flooring, new ceiling tiles and painting. Coleman said it will take about six months to complete.

He added the Prescott-Nevada County Economic Development Office, Nevada County Judge Mark Glass and Nevada County Quorum Court were also involved in the grant process.
