Nominations sought for Hometown Hero

PRESCOTT – This year’s Prescott-Nevada County Chamber of Commerce Banquet will be April 16 at the cafeteria of Prescott Junior High School.

One of the annual awards is the Hometown Hero. Initially, this award was meant for those who served in the military, but has expanded to include first responders. The chamber is currently seeking nominations for the 2020 Hometown Hero, who will be announced at the banquet, along with the Treasure of Gold and Citizen of the Year.

Any county resident can submit a nomination. The nominee must be a resident of the county and must have represented the nation in the military, or currently work for a fire, police, or ambulance rescue unit in Nevada County.

Nominations and the reason for the nomination must be submitted in writing to the chamber. A selection committee will judge the nominees based on their: outstanding service to family, city, county, state, church, fraternal, recreational, industrial and educationally related services.

The deadline for nominations is March 2. The nominations can be mailed to: Hometown Hero, c/o Prescott-Nevada County Chamber of Commerce, P.O. Box 443 – 125 E. Main St., Prescott, AR 71857.
