Library offers tax, utility, GED help

PRESCOTT – Winter will be a busy time for the Nevada County Library as several programs will be going on to help county residents.

FILING TAXES – Filing taxes for individuals and families in 2019, free tax help is available January 30th – April 14th.

The Central Arkansas Development Council will have a VITA volunteer at the Prescott/Nevada County Library to help prepare tax returns for individuals and families. These returns will be prepared and e-filed by IRS-certified volunteers.

Those taking advantage of this need to bring a valid photo ID, their W-2 and/or 1099, 1095A or other Marketplace insurance forms, Social Security cards for all being claimed on the return, last year’s taxes and a check for routing and account numbers so refunds can be made via direct deposit.

Volunteers will be at the library on

  • Tuesdays from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m.
  • Thursdays from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m.
  • Saturdays from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. (2/8, 2/21, 3/7, 3/21, and 4/11) ONLY

UTILITY ASSISTANCECADC will begin taking LIHEAP applications for utility assistance on WEDNESDAY’S ONLY at the Prescott/Nevada County Library FROM 9:30 UNTIL 12:00. The program will operate as long as funds are available. For more information CONTACT TODD ANDERSON 501-315-1121.

GED CLASSESFree GED classes will be offered in community. Classes begin at 5:00 p.m. every Thursday.
