Food Share soup luncheon well attended

PRESCOTT – From 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Thursday, it was standing room only at Food Share Nevada County.

The reason wasn’t people coming to get food to stock up on for the weekend, but because of Food Share’s annual soup luncheon. This has always been a big hit in town as people flock to the Food Share to get an inexpensive and tasty lunch. There were several kinds of soup to choose from, including: steak house, deer chili, chicken broccoli cheddar, creamy potato, vegetable, taco, cheesy potato, white chicken chili, chicken tortilla, chicken and dumplings, smoked sausage, plain chicken vegetable and several varieties of chili.

There was also cornbread, crackers, cookies and a drink to complete the meal. Most used the carryout  method, taking their lunch either back home or to work with them, but several remained and ate their soup at the Food Share.

All proceeds from the lunch will go to help keep the Food Share operational in its efforts to feed the needy in Nevada County.
