Mark Gunter of Hope is the Arkansas State Pinball Champion do the third time in a row. Gunter clinched the latest win on January 18th the state pinball championship held in Conway. The Arkansas contest is held under the auspices of the International Flipper Pinball Association which is headquartered in the Chicago. Gunter bested 16 finalists to clinch his third title.
In addition to his official trophies, he showed off a special gift a family member crafted to honor his prowess.
Gunter credits his late father with awakening his pinball habit. “I was with my dad while he was trying to make a deal on some lumber. Finally, he gave me a nickel and told me to go play that thing in the corner….I guess that explains how long I’ve been playing pinball” says Gunter.
Gunter will be heading to the North American Championship in Denver March 5th. Our best wishes go with him as he represents our state in the national competition.
