Jail holding its own financially

PRESCOTT – Housing inmates in the Nevada County Jail brought in $58,689.45 in January, while the 1/4 cent sales tax generated $23,217.48, giving the jail a total income of $81,906.93.

At the close of 2019, the amount generated by the jail was $877,409.06.

Overall there were 161 inmates incarcerated in the jail with 90 men and 71 women. with 90 getting released. The average daily population in the jail was 78.1, while the typical length of stay was 15 days. Of those being housed in the jail, 15 were local, 15 came from Clark County, seven from Hot Spring County, five from Little River County, one from Malvern, 11 for the Arkansas Department of Corrections, four Acc and six 309, for a total of 64. Each of these entities were charged $30 per day per inmate, except for the 309 prisoners who were housed at $12 per person per day.
