James Black is a legendary figure in Hempstead County history that is known for being the maker of the infamous “Bowie” knife. Josh Williams will speak at the upcoming meeting of the Hempstead County Historical Society on Tuesday, February 25 at 7pm at the Presbyterian Church in Washington. Williams will talk about the personal life of James Black and what we know about the person and his tragic life. Come and learn about your county!
