Kiwanis Club members kept busy with chili lunch

PRESCOTT – The weather was perfect Thursday for the Kiwanis Club’s Fourth Annual Chili Lunch at the First United Methodist Church.

Members were kept busy filling bowls to be delivered around town, as well as for those grabbing a bite on the go or just to sit down an enjoy something nice and hot on a cold, dreary February day. Patrons  could choose between deer and beef chili as well as having it with or without beans. There was also a white chili available. The $7 meal included chili, cornbread or crackers, dessert and a drink.

Money from the project will be used for scholarships, the club’s honor’s banquet and Christmas event. All the money will be used for the club’s service projects. Last year the event raised more than $1,000.

The chili was mostly made by club members, though a couple of folks in the community volunteered to make a pot as well. Members of the Key Club were on hand to help.
