DAR essay winners named

PRESCOTT – The Benjamin Culp Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution held its annual DAR essay contest, with the winners named Monday morning.

The ceremony was held at the First United Methodist Church, and the theme of the essays this year was “George Washington Tea”. A total of 17 essays were entered with the top four being honored with pins and certificates. This year, two of the essay winners were also picked as state winners. They and their families have been invited to go to Little Rock for the state event.

William Avery was the fifth grade winner, with Dalton Stockton the winner from the sixth grade. The state winners were: Caytlee Poole, a seventh grader, and Wilson Dean “Rocco” Loe, an eighth grader.

Bryson Rhodes and Brooke Burton were named good citizens at the ceremony.
