Klipsch Heritage Museum Association Working On Historic Field House

The Klipsch Heritage Museum Assoication purchased the historic Talbot Feild house at Division and Pine last year.  The question has been “what are they going to do with it?”.  Jim Hunter recently offered a tour of the facility and explained what’s been done so far.  “We installed an HVAC system and we’ve done a major termite remediation.  The building did have termites even though it’s brick and that’s all been resolved” says Hunter.  He continues “right now mainly it’s paint, we’ve done power washing on the front, cleaning out the carriage house…just clean up in general”.
Hunter says much of the downstairs will be used for listening rooms.  “What we want to do is be able to go to different time periods and recreate that period in furniture, in loudspeakers, in all the electronics, and allow you to hear what Klipsch speakers sounded like in the different time periods against some of the competition.”   He says he doesn’t think anything like this has been done before and he hopes they will recreate around four periods.
The upstairs of the house has two, two bedroom suites on the second floor.  He said these could possibly become listening room and possibly be used for visitors.  The third floor is an attic and has one large room that had been used as a playroom or craft area.
There is a carriage house behind the main house.  Plans are to utilize that facility eventually for the serving of food and renovations are planned for that building.
Hunter says nothing really unusual has been found in the house although they have found a number of paper items including old newspapers and magazines.  He notes they have “National Geographic” magazines going back to the teens.  Plans are to preserve as much of the paper items as possible.  He also notes they plan to the mural on the dining room wall.
Plans are to have the house “halfway presentable” for the Klipsch Pilgrimage which is about a month away.  Hunter says they are “going as fast as they can” but don’t really have a timetable for the renovations to be finished
