The Hope Hempstead County Chamber of Commerce community coffee was held at the chamber office on Wednesday, February 26 and was hosted by Mrs. Arnetta Bradford with Program of Academic Exchange (PAX).

PAX is an exchange program that provides global educational and exchange opportunities. The opportunities are not only for students but for their host families as well.

Attending today’s coffee were five local students who are part of this program. The students were from West Africa, Europe, Germany, and South America.

The students shared some of the experiences they have had since being in America. They have all enjoyed the inviting communities of the Hope and Prescott areas. They have shared how welcoming their fellow classmates were and how their hosts families have been so loving and welcoming to them and their cultures.

As a host family you provide the students with a place in your home to live, study, and eat. As a host you get to provide experiences of America to someone else along with learning more about their culture.

You can host a student for a full year, a semester, or you can be a welcome family and host for up to 8 weeks.
