Hope Lions Hear From Hempstead County Tax Assessor

The Hope Lions Club heard from Hempstead County Tax Assessor Kim Smith on Monday.  Smith is shown here asking how many of the crowd liked paying taxes!  After her lighthearted question, Smith explained that her office makes sure all property is assessed and billed out to the right people at the right value.  She said they want to make sure the public doesn’t have to pay any more taxes than is necessary.  Smith said everyone has to assess personal property which includes vehicles, trailers, campers, 4 wheelers, tractors, livestock, and business personal property.  She says everyone has to assess by May 31st.
