New Christian School Coming This Fall

Registration is underway for a new Christian School to be housed at “A Place of Meeting” on Highway 67 in Perrytown.  The Righteous Oaks School of Ministry is now enrolling students who will be in grades K5 through 8th grade this fall.  Pastor Nathaniel Crane” said, “We’ve been praying on it for some time and just praying for our young people in the community…out of that prayer the Lord just put in our heart about starting a school.”  He continued, “It would be a different type of school, a school where they would have an encounter with the Lord’s presence and it would also offer academic excellence at the same time.  That’s why we call it a School of Ministry because it’s a merger of the two, spiritual and academic together.”
Crane said they (his church?) settled on the K5 through 8th grade age group because needs are being met by local preschools and they felt the church could provide education for this group with excellence.  He said they plan to add up to 12th grade and preschool later.
“It’s not just a church school but for the community,” says Crane.  He notes they are seeing lots of interest from the area.  “One thing that we want to do, though, is to maintain smaller class sizes so that we can have more one-on-one interaction with the teachers and the students.  This year we will focus on about ten per grade.”
Crane says they are getting lots of inquiries from parents from around the area.  Says Crane, “We’ve actually already seen some response from students enrolling from Emmet, Prescott, and other areas.  It is a need being met.  In starting this, we didn’t start it just because of need, we started it because the Lord led us to do it by prayer.  It came into our hearts.  We’re excited to see it is meeting needs that aren’t currently able to be met.”
Immediate plans for expansion call for a playground to be installed this summer.  Further plans in the future call for expansion of the church’s building and they hope to put in a gym in the future.  He said they’re planning to expand the classrooms they have now. They’re starting with K5 through 8th grade because they have the space to handle them now.  Cranes says even with expansion they still want to stay with smaller class sizes.
Crane said, “Our vision is for them to encounter God’s presence and then to engage them with academic excellence.  We want to really do everything with excellence so that they would have the best of educations.  Two of our teachers are finishing up their Master’s degrees.  We really want to have quality, that’s why we’re starting smaller and doing it with excellence.”  Continues Crane, “We want to recognize each child has unique gifts and talents.  We want to recognize those unique things about them.  We want to offer non-traditional classes that can help them harness those things they’re already good at.”  He further adds as they grow they will be offering more but they want to recognize their students’ skills such as music and trade skills.
