PRESCOTT – In a press release from District Judge Tony Yocom, the Arkansas Supreme Court issued an order on March 17 canceling all court proceedings in the state, effective immediately and until further notice.

Based on the guidance of the Centers for Disease Control concerning the limiting of group gatherings to avoid the spread of COVID-19 the Nevada County District Court is cancelling court as well and will resume normal operation on May 6, unless circumstances dictate extending the cancellation period. All court dates scheduled have been changed.

The March 18 court date has been moved to May 6; March 29 to May 13; April 1 to June 3; April 8 to June 10; April 15 to June 17 and April 22 to June 24.

However, if situations arise where people scheduled to appear on one of these dates needs to appear before the court to resolve an emergency, they need to contact the Nevada County District Clerk at 870-887-6016 to be scheduled a hearing time.

Anyone scheduled to appear on these date and planned to plead guilty can contact the clerk’s office about the possibility of signing a plea agreement and setting up a fine payment plan, though some cases will require a mandatory court appearance.
