Hempstead County Has First Confirmed Case of COVID-19

Hempstead County Judge Jerry Crane notified the media at 12:10pm Tuesday of Hempstead County’s first confirmed case of COVID-19.  The Judge said he was notified by County Health Officer Dr. Dale Goins.  The Judge notes no names can be released to the public.  Judge Crane said “even before this we’ve been encouraging people to keep a social distance from people, to try to keep their hands sanitized, wear a mask if they have one.” He continued, “Since we have a confirmed case, we just need to be that more dilligent and use caution”.  Judge Crane notes, “As much as you can, try to stay in-home, just get out for what you have to get out for”.  The Judge also noted he believes the county has a “head start” on the virus as the doctors, Health Department, EMS, Pafford, and law enforcement to try a make a safer environment.  He advises people to be more cautious.
