Arkansas Department Of Health Gives Tips On Avoiding COVID-19

The COVID-19 virus has changed our world over the course of a month. We contacted the Arkansas Department of Health to ask a few questions. Anthony Aloi was gracious enough to answer our questions.
We asked Aloi about persons wearing a mask in public such as when they go shopping. He told us, “from my understanding, if they’re not the N95 masks they’re more preventing particulates coming from your body out into the air…stuff can still come in, it will help block some of that just not a good portion of it, it’s more to keep whatever you cough up out of other people’s area”. Aloi said the Department of Health typically reflects the CDC’s guidelines.
We asked Aloi if people are staying at home and not seeing anyone should they still be as stringent about washing their hands and using hand sanitizer. “I think it’s always a good idea to sanitize and clean things because Corona Virus isn’t the only thing going around; however, it could be more relaxed if it’s just you in your own environment and there’s absolutely no interaction with anybody else. But if you always want to be safe, better to be safe than unprepared,” said Aloi.
Aloi said if you’re out in public, social distancing is one of the most important things you can do. “It’s one of the most important thing you can do…six feet or further. It’s not an airborne virus…if you’re away from people and they cough, you’re less likely to get it than if you’re right next to them giving them a hug or something,” he said.
Aloi said for more information it’s a good idea to check out the website healthy.arkansas.gov. It has updated numbers on confirmed cases, tests administered, and recoveries.
