PRESCOTT – Aside from a three-hour power outage Tuesday afternoon, Prescott and Nevada County escaped any major damage from the storms.

Prescott Mayor Terry Oliver said lightning “got into” the substation and knocked out electricity shortly after 11 a.m. In addition, a power line somehow wound up leaning on a utility pole causing it to catch fire. Overall, the entire city was without electricity for roughly three hours. Fortunately, other than a utility pole being damaged Tuesday night, there was no other problems with the storm.

Nevada County Judge Mark Glass said there was no damage in the county to speak of. As of 9 a.m., he said, four trees were reported down.
