The high winds that swept through southwest Arkansas late Tuesday night were responsible for numerous downed trees and powerlines, damage to homes and highways blocked. Hempstead County Deputies responded to several reports of storm damage throughout the county.  In northern Hempstead County on County Road 34, three homes were damaged by trees. No report of injuries at any of the homes. Deputies and Saratoga Volunteer firemen used chainsaws to clear trees that fell across Highway 32 West near Millwood Dam. Trees throughout the county were uprooted and kept road crews and deputies busy several hours.
Local utilities continue to work to restore power throughout southwest Arkansas. At various times Hempstead and Nevada Counties were under Severe Thunderstorm Warnings and a Severe Thunderstorm Watch. Images provided by Hempstead County Sheriff James Singleton.
