Mr. Stephen Joe Wren, age 67 of Prescott, Arkansas, passed away Tuesday, April 28, 2020.  He was known to most as Steve, Stevie, or Stevie Joe.  Steve was born November 1, 1952 in Prescott, Arkansas to Joe Harold and Josephine Crews Wren.  He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather.  He was a cattle rancher and member of Central Baptist Church.  He was a retired thoroughbred horse trainer for over 30 years, a former jockey and Fish Bowl restaurant owner.  Steve was an avid hunter, especially of deer and turkey, and loved playing golf.  All these he enjoyed doing with friends and family.

Steve enjoyed a long and successful horse racing career with multiple stake horse winners, most notable were graded stakes winner Mr. Jester, Etbauer and Miss Seffens.  He trained mostly private for Karen and Hays Biggs of Springdale, Arkansas.

After retiring from training horses and not being able to sit still, he and Janis bought the Fish Bowl Restaurant and ran it for 8 years. Steve owned a cattle ranch for over 26 years.  The family was named Farm Family of the year in 2004. To keep him busy, Steve and Janis’ latest project was transforming his horse barn at Willow Oak Acres into an event venue where he could pass on his hospitality.

He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Josephine Crews Wren and Joe Harold Wren, his grandparents, Grace and Floyd Wren and Seth and Cora Crews.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Janis Kay Cummings Wren, two children; son, Brandon Wayne Wren, wife Lisa of Texarkana, Arkansas; daughter Kelley Michele Dice, husband Cory of Prescott, Arkansas; five grandchildren, Jade Wren, Micah Wren, Amber Wren, Caden Dice, and Chase Dice; step-mother Kay Ridgell Wren; brothers Larry Wren, wife Mary; Fred Wren, wife Anne; and Tim Wren; sisters Kim McKenzie, husband Miles; Angie Hendrix, husband Boo; and many precious nieces and nephews, other relatives and good friends.

The Steve Wren family would like to extend a special thank you for the outpouring of prayers, love and support during this difficult time in our lives.
