Three Arrested, Charged With Criminal Attempt To Commit 1st Degree Murder

On May 30, 2020, at approximately 10:45am, officers of the Hope Police Department arrested Juan Luna, 19, Iris Luna, 22, and Geronimo Gomez Jr., 18, all of Hope, Arkansas and charged them with criminal attempt to commit 1st degree murder and aggravated assault. Juan Luna was also charged with discharging a firearm in the city limits. The arrests occurred in the 700 block of West Avenue B, in Hope and were the results of an altercation that occurred in the 2000 block of West Avenue E in Hope, about an hour earlier. According to witnesses, a vehicle stopped in front of a residence in the 2000 block of West Avenue E and Juan Luna exited the vehicle and fired several shots toward a crowd standing in front of the residence. All three suspects were taken to the Hempstead County Detention Facility and held for a first appearance. The incident is still under investigation.
