COVID testing clinic a success

By Staff, 06/16/20 11:18 AM

PRESCOTT – A testing clinic for COVID-19 was held Tuesday morning at the Nevada County Fairgrounds.

People began lining up before 9:30 a.m. though the clinic wasn’t scheduled to begin until 11. The clinic was sponsored by Cabun Rural Health out of Hampton, with the testing staff from the Hope Family Clinic. They¬† had more than 900 tests to start with. The crew set up the drive-through clinic and prepared nasal¬† swabs. While they were getting ready, traffic steadily increased and soon was on the shoulder of Hwy. 67. Several people came in through the back gate and were told they had to use the front gate instead.

The staff donned their protective gear, including face masks and shields and started testing people before 10:30. Everyone getting tested had to fill out a form, which required their name, age, date of birth, primary care physician, address, phone number and email address. Everyone was also informed they’d get their test results in three to five business days.

Lunch for those working the clinic was provided by Ko-Fields. The crew brought ice chests filled with water to help cope with the heat. One even brought a box fan to try and stay cool with.
