Dorothy Wilson

Dorothy Fay Cook Wilson, lovingly called “Dot” answered God’s call to home on June 20, 2020 after a lengthy illness. Born on April 5, 1944 in Prescott, Arkansas and preceded in death by her parents, Hubert and Lela Morris Cook. She is survived by her spouse, Jerry Lee Wilson of 57 years of marriage and they have one son, James Greggory “Greg” Wilson. She is survived by her only sibling, Kathryn Cook Trevillion.

Dorothy, age 76, was owner/operator of Dot’s Looking Glass, where she was a licensed beautician working for more than 52 years. She loved her customers like her own family and continued to work until the age of 71. Even then she was not really ready to quit, but her hands would not allow her to continue. She always said she would go home (retire) when her last customer passed. Ironically, God blessed her with a special, Christian friend who shared the same enthusiasm and kept Dorothy’s hair well-manicured up to her passing. Family often got a quick laugh, when the first thing Dorothy asked after waking was, “How do I look?”

She was a hard worker and not much for being idle. She filled her quiet time helping take care of her twin grandsons who she called precious, but they can tell you about her count of three before discipline came. Needless to say, both will tell you they knew not to hear three. As teenagers they have helped with her care and driving her to town or the doctor.

Dorothy loved God, her family, going to church, reading a good book, and always eating sweets especially ice cream. She made the best lemon pies and creamy mashed potatoes. She adapted to learning how to use the internet, keeping up with the latest news and pictures posted on Facebook and Instagram. She even learned to text.

Survivors include her husband, Jerry L. Wilson of Prescott, AR, one son, Greg Wilson, wife Marcell of Prescott, AR, six grandchildren, Justin Lee Wilson and Kyle James Wilson of Prescott AR, David Aaron Johnston, wife Rochelle of Arlington, TX, Jennifer Leigh Johnston McDaniel, husband Alan McDaniel of Texarkana, AR, Tess Campbell Wood, husband Sid of Hope, AR, Taylor Key Hurd, husband Scott of Hope, AR, and numerous great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to extend deep appreciation to Michael Young, M. D., members of Central Baptist Church, members of Church of Christ, family and friends.

Sincere thank you for those who continually called, visited, prayed with her, sent flowers and cards or brought food to the home. The four special ladies who kept her spirits high as they checked on her daily with prayer and conversation. Your sincere love brought her comfort and helped her family extend her will to be.
