Mr. John K DeWoody age 75, of Prescott, Arkansas passed away Saturday July 4, 2020, surrounded by his children. John was born on May 24, 1945, at the Cora Donnell Hospital in Prescott to Ashley E. and Imogene Morgan DeWoody. He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, George L. DeWoody. John was employed by Union Pacific Railroad for 40 years from December 17, 1965, to December 2005, He originally started with Missouri Pacific railroad as a brakeman and retired with Union Pacific railroad as a conductor. John was a life time member of the DeWoody Greer Hunting club. He was known as BIG BAD JOHN to his friends, during high school he was an all-district football player for the Prescott Curley Wolves. He started his own cattle herd at the age of 15 and had them for the next 59 years. He joined the United States Army on March 1, 1967 and attended basic training camp in Fort Ord California as a sharpshooter. His granddaughter, Kenzie Gomez during her service in the United States Air Force also received the highest sharpshooter award, continuing the family tradition. After basic training he became a member of the Arkansas National Guard until August 23, 1971. John loved the game of baseball and one of the highlights of his retired life was being the #1 fan of his grandson Garrett who was on a travel baseball team When he wasn’t, he was following Garrett around Arkansas and other surrounding states. He was teaching his other grandson Pate, who he called JP all of his hunting tricks, even leasing land around his farm so he would have private hunting grounds. John was an Avid Turkey and trophy deer hunter. Granddaughters Addi and grace love to spend time and help work with their Paw on his farm. John attended Midway United Methodist Church where he enjoyed hearing Brother Joe Miller preach.

He is Survived by his two daughters Nicole DeWoody (Randle) Willis Jaslyn Richardson, one son Jacob (Ashley) DeWoody, Grandchildren Kenzie Gomez. Garrett Richardson who is an active duty member in the United States Navy Pate Willis, Addison DeWoody and Gracelyn DeWoody, Great-Grandchildren, Leo Salgado and Elias Gomez. Sister Charlotte Woody (Jim) and brother Pete DeWoody (Meredith) all of Prescott.

Public visitation will be 6:00pm to 8:00pm on MONDAY July 6, 2020, at BRAZZEL/Cornish 1996 Hwy 371 Prescott, Ar.

Funeral service will be 10:00am on Tuesday July 7, 2020 at Midway United Methodist Church with Bro. Joe Miller officiating. Burial to follow in Midway Cemetery.
