NASHVILLE – Two employees of the Tyson Foods processing plant in Nashville were injured in an early morning fire today and taken to the Burn Unit at Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock.

Tyson Foods issued the following statement to Hope-Prescott News:

“We’re investigating a fire that happened in part of our Nashville, Arkansas plant. Unfortunately, two of our team members have been injured and are receiving medical attention. We appreciate the quick response of local firefighters and first responders, who quickly put the fire out and helped our team members. The fire was limited to a detached building, so the main section of the plant was not impacted. Because we’re still assessing the situation, the further processing part of our operation will not run today.”

Nashville Fire Chief Justin Thornton said,  “We received the call to respond to Tyson Foods for a fire in the boiler room. Upon arrival, we found the boiler room fully involved. County Line, Center Point, Mineral Springs, and Yancey Fire Departments were dispatched to assist with the fire. The fire was extinguished at about 3:40 am.”

Pafford EMS provided medic units. A cause is still being determined as the investigation continues.
