Country Music Legend Who Played Hope Twice Passes

Grand Old Opry Star and Country Music Hall of Fame member Charlie Daniels recently passed away.  He is remembered fondly for his two concerts in Hope.  Daniels played a concert at the Hope Watermelon Festival in 1990.  He was the first big-name entertainer to play the festival.  He returned several years ago to perform a well-received show at Hempstead Hall.  Those who worked with Daniels in Hope were complimentary of him and pronounced him a gentleman.  Our thanks to Terri Perkins who snapped this photo of Daniels onstage at Hempstead Hall for sharing.
