John Mangum

Rev. John E Mangum, age 82, of Ruston, LA, formerly of Hope, AR, passed away Saturday, August 1, 2020 in Ruston, LA. He was born on August 21, 1937 in Hope, AR to Floyd and Agnes Hockett Mangum. He was a Baptist minister and served the Lord for over 50 years in area churches until his retirement. He served in the United States Air Force and worked as a carpenter, computer technician and anywhere the Lord led him. He had a heart for missions and served for several years with the Master’s Builders organization that supplied specialized workers for church building projects. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, James Mangum, four sisters, Dora Norvell, Nona Goad, Pauline Waymire and Vera Sparks.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Linda Rateliff Mangum; daughter, Debbie Forney husband Mike of Ruston, LA, son, John Jr. and wife Theresa of Heber Springs, AR, four grandchildren; Candi Barry, Dusty Forney, Grace Mangum, Hannah Mangum, two great-grandchildren, Bonnie Forney, JT Forney; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 5, 2020 at BRAZZEL/Oakcrest Chapel with Rev. Kenneth Bobo officiating. Burial to follow at Watercreek Cemetery in Guernsey, AR.
