Martha Lou Campbell Powell

Martha Lou Campbell Powell, age 85, of Hope, Arkansas passed away Monday, August 10, 2020 in Hope. She was born February 18, 1935 in Princeton, Texas to Merle Oscar and Martha Strickland Campbell.

She was a homemaker that enjoyed her 11am “stories” on the television and a fierce competitor when playing canasta with the family. Martha Lou was a Baptist and her favorite way to show her love was to make you a homecooked meal. She was known for her excellent pies: chocolate and coconut were her specialties. She found love again late in life when she met Joe Sharp. He would take her for ice cream in Nashville and those weekly road trips always made her smile.

Martha Lou is preceded in death by her parents, six brothers, Clifford, Curtis, Roy, Ray, M.O. “Jr.” and Millard Campbell; one sister, Edith Athey; one grandson-in-law, Bubba Gray.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Becky Cato and husband Randall; her son, Mike Powell; three granddaughters, Dana Gray Kilcrease (Chris), LaRanda Clayton (David) and Jennifer King (Johnny); five great grandchildren, Cheldon Gray (David Latham), Makayla King, Randon Gray, Addison King, and Darci Clayton; three great-great grandchildren, Tucker, Treyshaun and Kinsley; one brother-in-law, Roy Lynn Powell; two sisters-in-law, Jody Bryant and Frances Campbell; several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will begin 9:00am Friday, August 14, 2020 before the 10:00am funeral service at Herndon-Fuqua Funeral Home Hope with interment to follow in Anderson Cemetery. Bro. Harold Seward will officiate under the direction of Herndon-Fuqua Funeral Home Hope. Service will Livestream on www.facebook.com/herndonfuqua.
