PRESCOTT – K.D. Hicks is the owner-operator of Barks and Bubbles, an animal grooming business in town.

The business is located at 1304 W 1st St. N in town. Hicks was with the Barking Barn for two years, but decided to set out on her own. Only the business and ownership have changed, as Hicks did grooming for the Barking Barn. Currently her services include washing, grooming, trimming nails and cleaning the ears of dogs. “I’d like to open a boarding facility down the road,” she said, but that takes space and money.”

Hicks said she’s been busy since opening, but things have slowed down as school started Monday morning. However, she expects business to pick up once everyone gets used to their new schedules.

The cost  of her services  depend on the size of the animal in question as she works with small, medium and large dogs. For a bath, the price ranges from $15-$30, based on the size of the dog. For a cut and  bath, which includes the trimming of the dog’s toenails, cleaning the anal glands, ear cleaning, shampoo, conditioner, blow dry and either perfume or cologne, the price  is $40-$60.

Hicks does trim cat’s nails, but doesn’t offer bathing services for felines. The cost for trimming a cats nails is $5 for non-clients. For clients, the nail service for cats and dogs is free.
