UA Cossatot Closing for Storm

By Dr. Steve Cole, UA Cossatot, 08/26/20 1:00 PM

DE QUEEN – UA Cossatot has issued the following statement:

Message From Dr. Steve Cole, Chancellor UA Cossatot, Regarding Campus Closure Due To Hurricane Laura

Hurricane Laura, an historically strong category 4 hurricane is set to make landfall tonight near the Texas-Louisiana border. Once this storm makes landfall, it is scheduled to trek northward through UA Cossatot’s service area. The National Weather Service has already issued a Tropical Storm Warning for our area due to the conditions that Laura will present for most of tomorrow. With the possibility for high winds, tornadoes, flooding, and widespread power outages:

ALL UA COSSATOT CAMPUSES WILL BE CLOSED ON THURSDAY, AUGUST 27th.

We value the safety of our students and staff, so therefore we find it in everyone’s best interest to close due to these very extreme circumstances.

Please stay safe and please monitor your local weather offices for the latest on Hurricane Laura and the impacts we will feel in Southwest Arkansas and Southeast Oklahoma.

Dr. Cole
