Preston Leonard Arrested In Connection With Spring HIll Incidents

On September 01, 2020 at approximately 1014 hours HCSO Deputies responded to Spring Hill High school in regards to a motor vehicle theft.

Upon arrival deputies were advised that a white Chevrolet Traverse owned by Spring Hill school district had been stolen.  During the investigation deputies discovered several other items of personal property belonging to students and the district were taken.

Deputies and investigators developed information that lead to possible suspect, Investigators obtained a warrant for Preston Leonard age 25 of Hope, Arkansas for Theft of Property. And entered the warrant into ACIC/NCIC.

On September 2, Texarkana, Texas police conducted a traffic stop on the Chevrolet Traverse and discovered Leonard to be driving. Leonard was taken into custody and transported to the Bi-State Correctional Facility to be held on the warrant.

Leonard is being held at Bi-State pending extradition back to Hempstead County.

Along with the vehicle being recovered most of the property take has been recovered.

Farmers Tractor Recovered by HCSO Investigators

 HCSO Investigators acting on information obtained during the investigation of a stolen Kubota L359 Tractor equipped with a backhoe. Recovered the Tractor on September 3, 2020 at approximately 2:30 P.M.

The tractor was located by investigators searching a wooded area off of County Road 273. The equipment was in running condition, the owner was contacted and came and retrieved his property. 25-Year-old Preston Leonard of Hope is being held on others charges at the Bi-State Justice Center in Texarkana. Deputies are in the process of obtaining a warrant for Leonard on the Theft of the Tractor. Leonard will be extradited back to Hempstead County as soon as possible on this incident as well as the theft from Spring Hill School District.
