By Staff, 09/8/20 8:10 PM

Rainfall statistics at the Southwest Research and Extension Center, the official weather station for Hope, show rainfall is up and temperatures are down.  The “Experiment Station” shows that 6.61 inches of rain were received for August.  That compares to normal rainfall of 3.04 inches and means Hope received 3.57 inches above normal.  The year to date average is 52.89 inches at the end of August.  Normal year to date average is 34.9 inches which means Hope has received 17.99 inches above normal as of the end of August.

August certainly brought cooler temperatures.  The average temperature for the month was about 10 degrees below normal.  Also, we were 8 days into the month before a 90 degree reading was recorded for the month.  There were only 10 days with 90 degree or higher highs.  The high temperature was 94 degrees.
